Thanks for all the info you guys put out there. You make it much easier to narrow down my deceision! I am comfortable with the size and wieght of the 35 to 45 horse TC's. A lot of you have opted for the 40 horse w/o complaint. I'll be able to upgrade to the "D" and supersteer if I opt to give up some power. (life is afterall a series of adjustments!) I have a small horse farm where the machine will be used 95% of the time and small contracting business. All the major work on the farm is done so it's more maintinance than anything else. I could easily get by with a TC33 on the farm but my concern will be possible future use for the company if any. It could be an ego thing too! Any experiance with the TC35? Has there been any problems with the Hydostatic in this size tractor? I have looked at JD, Kubota and NH and feel the NH is the best value out there by far! But it seems to me that there is alot of price setting (I won't say fixing) in this arena. I would like to be able to get dealer invoice prices like with new cars but this doesn't seem to be available. Am I the only guy that thinks they keep us in the dark?

Dan, I thought there was a previous post on the board about the TC35 coming up a little short on power for the frame size of the tractor. Something you may want to check in to before you settle on the 35 model. It would make sense being the size of the frame is larger then say the tc33 but only two more horses. I have the TC29D so far no problems 1 year old 150hrs. and has done everything I put it thru, I did do some plowing with it and with a 2 bottom plow 14" it did groan quite a bit. If the R-4s loaded up with dirt it was all over. For that project I wish I had ags. and more H.P.! ....

Since I just found this site I may have missed that message about the 35. It does make a lot of sence when you think about it! It over a 1000 lbs. more with FEL! I doubt if the difference in the stroke is long enough to compensate! But then the gearing may be totally different to compensate. It sure doesent say in the brochure!
The TC40 goes to a 4 cylinder. After seeing it match up with the stump I know it has the power! But then again will 5hp make it a dog or is it the loss of a cylinder that makes all the diference?
I currently have a Ford 3000 (3cyl gas) and it falls on it's face in the thicker parts of the pasture or even going up hill. I was assuming that wouldn't be the same with a 3cyl diesel. I use a 6' flail mower. Any input guys?
Unless I dig up some money in the back yard it's either 35hp and supersteer or 40hp and standard steer. ( I'll start digging )
I stopped at my local dealer today with my wife. There we saw a TC29, 30, 33, 35 and a TN55. She jumped right up on the TC35D! That settled it for frame size! (any ideas on how to get our wives to do all the farm chores so we can watch football???)
The pro is that when the backhoe is purched (next year) it'll have the reach I need to keep the streams clear. The con is it won't fit in the barn. Reverse the problem with the TC33. I guess I'll make the openeing wider! Solves that!

Dan,
I have heard nothing but good things about the SS option but if you dont need it why spend the extra cash. I wonder about long term use with the extra components wether the repair bills will be large down the road. As far as mowing I use a 5ft. bush hog on my TC29D and have had no problem, last year I mowed down 6 ft. tall grass, couldnt even see the tractor! ....

I have a TC 40D w/ SuperSteer. I love the SuperSteer, but if I had to choose 35D w/ SS vs 40D w/o, I'd go for the 40D. I test drove a 35D, 40D, and a 45 when buying. The 4 cylinder engine seemed smoother and quieter than the 3cyl. Plus it seemed to have more power (as it should going up 5 hp), but I couldn't feel the difference between the 40 and 45. I'm sure there is a difference, I just couldn't tell it on the lot. I also wanted the option of mid-PTO, so a 40D was a perfect fit for me. But that said, I'd still try to get the SS. I really love the SensiTrack clutch when mowing.

I tested the 33 and 35. The 35 was a underpowered with only two more horses than the 33 sitting in a large frame. The 33 with SS is perfect for moving around trees and around the pasture. If you plan on doing any yard cutting around trees.. the 33 is a perfect match as the size allows manuvering around the yard ... and plenty of power to cut the fields and brush... ....
